there are no maybes
and there are no yesterdays
there is only a faint glint of the evening
as day passes into night
the birds chirp
the worms dig deeper into their holes
the frosty air
as it is carried through the sky
by the winds to the east and over the oceans
trickery on the feet of apes
they dance madly in the halls
expecting their just rewards
it never comes
it never comes
